PRESS RELEASE
Foundry Commons,
Bloc5 and Paolo Mejia Fine Art and Design
are pleased to present “Beneath the Surface” by FUSE artists’ Marian
Tiemann and Trudy Levy this April. In this April duo art show, Marian
and Trudy will explore their own work to see what is beneath the
apparent.
Through the lens of the camera and using different mediums to paint
and make collages, Marian opens up the concept of a brilliant world
exposed. Many surface layers create abstract expressive landscapes and
revealing stories not always appar
ent at a glance. When we focus on beauty in daily life, the ordinary becomes extraordinary.
Playing with tweaking visual perception, Trudy examines how color,
texture and context influence perception. Currently, she is looking to
and referencing Cubists, graphic artists and Les Nabis for direction, in
her work revealing a painting under a painting.
BLOC5 is hosting this event at Foundry Commons Microgallery, 868 S. 5th St, San Jose.
“Beneath the Surface’s” opening night will be in April 6 with a
reception from 6 to 8 pm. In addition, the micro gallery will be open
for viewing most weekends throughout April from 4pm to 7pm .
