"In Transit" is a group art show that will be held at ManilaTown Center in San Francisco. The show features ten artists who examine different
transitional junctures. These junctures can be physical, emotional, psychological or even spirirtual. In Mel Vera Cruz’s piece "Lucky", he incorporates Balikbayan boxes that are used for
shipping items to family in the Philippines. The goods delivered in Balikbayan boxes contains conventional day-to-day materials such as clothes, medicines, packaged food, toys and other necessities. This shipping box represent something that of intrinsic nature. It is a package of hope. This package of hope is being shipped in transit to their love ones and recipients. While at other times the change is emotional and
psychological, such as Charlene Tan’s piece "Silent Labor", which discusses privilege and inequality. In Marcius
Noceda’s piece "Sway", he involves
the physical and emotional transformation that occurs simultaneously. "In Transit" is a show that investigates multiple levels and provides a space for
understanding the nuances of these moments. These processed concepts and emotions provided by these artists' work
allow us to form an ineffable, unfamiliar vocabulary and connection for this newly attained vision of being in transit.
We invite you to attend this month long show and enjoy the visuals provided by these artists.
